At a time when it may seem that all beer styles have already been discovered and named, Lallemand has come up with a new approach: to create specific yeasts with a clear vision and build a whole new style around them. This is how Northern IPA was born. A style that combines the purity of West Coast IPA with the fruitiness and subtle yeast character of modern ales.

Northern IPA seeks a balance between distinctive hopping and excellent drinkability. It is based on modern IPAs, but takes a different path – cleaner, drier, and sharper. is our take on this style – it is built on a light malt base and uses modern hops and yeast that work differently to those commonly used in top fermentation. LalBrew Aurora yeast works best at lower temperatures. This creates a beer with a sharp, dry profile that lets the most important thing stand out – the hop aroma.

We added Citra, Idaho 7, and Krush to the whirlpool and cold hopping—hops that, when combined, bring tropical fruit, citrus peel, flowers, resin, and subtle herbal notes. Biotransformation during fermentation then rounds out the aroma even more and
brings it to new heights. The result is a fresh and exceptionally drinkable beer that is not overwhelming but refreshing.
