The story of the Rye River Brewing Company began back in 2013 with the introduction of the McGargles brand. We have grown both our team and our product range since then. Based in Celbridge, Kildare the brewery employs over 40 people. We now produce a range of over twenty beers under the Solas, Crafty Brewing Company, Grafters and McGargles brands
In 2017, we opened our brewery to the public. Our Brewery Tour allows you to witness each step of the brewing process first hand, from the milling of the malt to the bottling of some of your favourite beers. After which, you will get the chance to sample some of our multi-award winning brews in a brand new visitor experience area directly overlooking the brewery.
We’ve recently launched our own brand of Limited Edition Rye River Seasonal Beers. The first of which, our 8.2% Belgian Imperial Stout, was showcased at this years Alltech Craft Brews & Food Fair.
A Heritage of Brewing
The Irish town of Celbridge is famous for its long and thriving tradition of brewing dating back to the early 1700s. The town consisted of large estates which provided the main source of employment for Celbridge. Each of these self-supporting estates had their very own brewery! In 1709 James Carberry’s Brewery, the brewery in which some of this country’s world renowned brewers began their trade, was established in the town centre.
Celbridge is a town steeped in history and it has a long association with brewing. Therefore it is the ideal place to brew fantastic beers, and to write our own brewing history. In our case, however, the story begins with the dysfunctional family of Irish brewing, the McGargles.
